Chris Huber is an award-winning photojournalist in Mitchell, S.D. He holds a bachelors degree in photojournalism from Minnesota State University Moorhead and is currently working as the photographer The Daily Republic newspaper. For his work in 2011 he was named South Dakota Newspaper Association's Outstanding Young Journalist for the daily newspaper category; an award given to the best journalist in the state under the age of 30.

I serve as the photographer for the The Daily Republic newspaper in Mitchell. Daily duties include photographing the largest stories and finding feature photos for page two or three. I also serve as a reporter when short-handed or during weekend duty. I am also the videographer/editor for videos that are posted on www.mitchellrepublic.com. When needed I add stories and edit www.mitchellrepublic.com

I was a product photographer for a retail distribution company in Minneapolis. There, I worked in studio to take pictures of products we provide for retail customers either through our website or provide them for use in catalog work. I also worked with vendor to procure, edit and tone images they provide for our use and maintained a photo library of over 40,000 images.

I was responsible for taking photos for use in university publications both in studio and at events. Subjects include people and objects and setting up lighting both in the studio and on location. Images would appear online and in university publications.
At the Lake | Photographer/editor | August 2008 – November 2008
I was one of 12 photographers that were tasked with making a book documenting lake life in Minnesota then digitally editing and formatting over 120 photos for print in the book. This included working with designers and printers on how to best convey the photography

I was responsible for handing out and editing photo assignments for our weekly newspaper as well as photographing the largest stories of the week.

Great Plains Associated Press Awards include two first-place finishes and seven other awards in two years of competition. Entries come from North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska.
